Portuguese Restaurants in Manchester

Luso

Deansgate

63 Bridge Street Manchester M3 3BQ
Luso on Bridge Street, is the very first Portuguese Restaurant to open in Manchester, and their menu is inspired not only by the traditional cuisine of Portugal but also by the food of former Portuguese provinces such as Macau, Goa, Brazil, Africa and Japan. The Portuguese explorers introduced vindaloo spices to India, clam chowder to the people of America and Tempura cooking to Japan. Their menu will change regularly to reflect the seasons and availability of ingredients.

Carlos and Jane are the creators of Luso, and as Carlos was born and bred in Portugal, they did not need to think long, as to which cuisine they wanted to inspire or the standards they wished to set. They were delighted to appoint the renown, legendry Chef, David Bright to create the level of culinary cuisine that will impress the most discerning clientele, no matter how high their standards.

David who has an undying passion for food, explains that even the ingredients are all made in house, from the Mayonnaise to the 7 varieties of Butter and he only uses the finest suppliers of Meat, fish and produce that have proven reputations over the last 20 years. David’s signature dishes would be Salt Cod, Caldo Verde, Piri Piri Spring Rolls, Lamb Rump, however, he does stress that every dish, is prepared and cooked to his own personal level of excellence.

Whether you are looking for a light lunch of Tapas, selection of Petiscos or A La Carta for Lunch or Dinner or even Afternoon Tea, Luso will definitely impress you not only with the quality of food, variety of wine, but the relaxed atmosphere and superb ambiance!
