Beluga occupies a prime corner position, in a spectacular Grade II listed building, and prides itself in delivering unpretentious good quality food coupled with an extensive choice in some of the world’s finest wine and champagnes.

This basement eatery has established itself as “the Northern Quarter canteen”. Owned by one of the brains behind The Bay Horse and Cord, Soup Kitchen is an eccentrically decorated space with a great community vibe and a fine line in affordable, healthy soups and bowl food.

Sous Chef is the best restaurant you've never been to. The menu combines locally sourced ingredients, many of which are organic, in the kind of modern British comfort food that restaurants such as Room and the sadly missed Marmalade in Chorlton built their reputations on: for example, baked goat's cheese tart with beetroot, shallots and a walnut dressing (£4), or slow cooked lamb shank pie with braised red cabbage (£8.50).
