Despite its lacklustre atmosphere, Harry Ramsden’s serves up a variety of traditional meals, with the most notable being its renowned fish and chips. A cheap and cheery restaurant, this is a family favourite, and as a result is known to get quite busy at peak times. The staff are attentive, even during these busy periods and do their utmost to ensure you are enjoying your dining experience. The restaurant decoration isn’t really that noteworthy – generic restaurant art work and glaring bulbs hang from the ceiling, although when your cod and chips arrives on the table, there’s not much chance of you noticing it

Harry Ramsdens used to be great. Lovely crisp fish and chips cooked to perfection. We have been eating here and at the Water Street restaurant for at least 14 years. We ate here on the 4th April 2009 and the food was not good. We ordered haddock and I think the fish was pollack! The chips were not good. I don't know if anyone reades these reviews but Harry Ramsdens has lost two good customers

I ordered for a cod fish and chips and the service was excellent and the meal was fantastic

2/102/10 Great Food/Crap Service. by Andy Bates

The best Fish and Chips in town, no doubt. The worst service ever. The staff dont seem to understand that good food and good service should go hand in hand. The manageress presides over a team of waiters/male and female who don't know the meaning of service. I and my partner go for the food, BUT god are we made to wait for it. COULD DO MUCH BETTER

An absolute disgrace. The worst I have ever had. Mr.Ramsden must be turning in his grave. Dry fish and awful chips.Dont waste your money.

1/10 Worst ever! by bobob

We went to the takeaway area to order a quick chips and curry sauce and chips and peas. 30 mins later we were still waiting- at a takeaway!! The portions were tiny and the chips really greasy. If you want decent fish and chips there are loads of really good non chain chip shops to choose from! Would give 0 out of 10 but it won't let you!

5/105/105/105/105/10 Hmm by Alison Millar

Ok, so it sells good fish and chips. But it's hardly a Manchester institution, is it? Chain restuarants that turn up in every town can't be the best we've got on offer. I'd far rather go to Sinclairs - at least you can tell what city you're in then. And you can get as good fish and chips all over town- they're nothing special

9/109/109/109/109/109/109/109/109/10 Best fish & chips in town by David

Title says it all really. Nothing much to look at and I agree the service could be better but its the fish & chips I go for and they are the best you can get.

10/1010/1010/1010/1010/1010/1010/1010/1010/1010/10 only fish in town by Rev Baxter

Have to agree with previous writer. It's true it's not in the centre of town and the decor is drab but the fish - my God, the fish! And the chips. They are seriously unbeatable. If anyone out there DOES know a better place to get fish and chips please let us know!
