I had the misfortune to sample the delights of this restaurant on a recent night out with a group.I note that the reviews have been good but I feel that disappointed I had to write this review.Whilst the surroundings are very nice the food does not match the interior.the mixed kebab starter had a portion of finely ground mince mixed with egg? it was not formed and looked awful. The chicken tikka biryani was bland, rice mixed with chicken coated in an orange paste..it looked liked it had never seen a tandoor and lacked any flavour.I asked for a madras sauce with this and was served a runny liquid which looked like weak soup.Other problems with the meal included tough lamb in the balti,a special haddock dish which was strong smelling and tasting..unlike any haddock I have ever tasted.I could mention more however a couple of our group enjoyed their meal. May I also add that I did not like being addressed as "love" by the waiters. Non of our group intend to return,as this was a celebration we would rather forget.

Have been a regular for a decade or so, following the restaurant from its original Collyhurst home. The food is first class, the ambience is perfect for a curry and Faz and his team are always hospitable. Highly recommended.

Can't beat it by Gill and Keith

We are regulars at Desi lounge (formerly Nawab) and have never been disappointed. From the moment we step through the front door and are greeted by manager Faz and staff, until we leave we are treated like friends. The food is delicious and although I stick to the same dish Keith is working his way through the menu and I always pinch some off his plate. We always look forward to returning and we have never been disappointed.

Went here on a date with my GF, and I have to say I was really pleased with my evening. Service was great, waiters were friendly and not pushy as in other places. Standard of food was excellent, they got the level of chilli just right. I recommend the chicken shashlik and chicken handi. My favourite restaurant in and around manchester for sure, makes Rusholme look like a joke...

There is nowhere in Britain that can compare to the quality and flavour of the dishes at Desi Lounge (formally Nawab). Cannot imagine how anyone could write this restaurant a bad review - whenever any of my family come to visit they insist on eating at Desi!

Just returned form there, its just round the corner from me and wasnt in the mood to drive to rushomle after tonights meal I wont be driveing to Rusholme again The food was fantastic :) Would have got a 10 out of 10 if the waiter asked me if I wanted popadoms when he took the drinks order :)

Being an avid fan of Indian food (eating it at least once a week) we have tried numerous establishments of indian cuisine and this is definitely our favourite over a 20 year period. Everyone has their own favourite place probably depending on their favourite dish and perhaps some balance that with the cost of the meal. However the quality of the food here is excellent, not only the culmination of the flavours, but if you don’t like cheap meat then this is the place for you. The management are very attentive without being obtrusive and it amazes us how they appear to remember all those who make a repeat visit, or perhaps its simply that people keep going back. The overall atmosphere is designed to put one at ease and comfort. We moved over a year ago, but even though we are 25 miles away, we still can’t resist going back for more. EXCELLENT.

we have been coming to the Nawab for nearly 15 including the (old place in Manchester City Rochdale Rd) Food always of A High Standard & the staff are friendly + very attentive .. Highly recomended

food 7 out of ten for taste but quantity was very poor in my opion i got a take away for my partener witch was chicken tika massale i got a large silver tray with was only a quater full with 4 pieces of chicken pilou rice and 2 chappitis with was over ten pound i thought that was not value for money we was also in narwab its self a few ppl thought the food was poor the reastraunt looks stunning but food dont match it so i dont think iwill be going again

The food and service is excellent. Friendly staff and nice modern interior. Definitely recommend the Nawaab for a great curry.
