We are full of meat by Tricky
In the belief that there is no great steak in Manchester, yesterday I recognised that my best friend was in need of something juicy to lift her spirits...and Gaucho delivered (not literally). A classy venue made us feel classy also, though it was a little chilly. Had to make slight adjustments to the seating arrangements so I could get close to my quarry and 'share' my warmth...and her steak! Expensive yes, but attentive service and food were stunning, as was my date. An evening of much 'mmmm'ing, 'oooooh'ing and a fair bit of dribbling. Spirits lifted and very full of meat, we confirm that there is good steak in Manchester and head home happy.
Overpriced by Steve Lister
The steak served here is very high quality. Wines are excellent. Everything else is mediocre to say the most. Table layout terrible and cramped. The lighting was so dark I had trouble seeing what I was eating. But above all the place is far far too expensive.
M-m-m by Phil Bell
Dick Turpin at least wore a mask, the prices are way over the top for the quality and level of food and service. Not for me again, I'm not that daft
kinda average by Sammie Tan
Went there with my bf last week, I really the the decoration, very stylish. However, starters were very disappointing. We ordered 3 starters to share between us: lobster, king prawns and scallops. They were not fresh at all, and they mixed prawns with the lobster dish ! My bf had filet -medium and I had sirloin - well done coz I don't like bloody steak. my steak tasted very average, but my bf loved his very much. Overall I'm not amazed by the food at all.
Excellent by Peter Stanning
I took an important client to Gaucho and we had an excellent meal. The service was impeccable and we were impressed by the wine list and the steak.
Excellent by Will
The food and the wine are excellent, and the interior is very impressive.
Attention to detail by George
The best thing about Gaucho is the attention to detail with the waitresses bringing you cuts of beef on the board and talking you through each one and wine from their own vineyard. Nowhere else in town puts in this much effort and that's why they deserved to win
Food and drink festival by Eric Shade
Best Restaurant 2008? With all the great independent restaurants around manchester, it's appauling that a London chain is apparently the best we can do.

Rare treat by Ellie Sanderson
Gaucho's is an absolutely fantastic restaurant. There is so much to recommend it I don't even know where to start - their privately-commissioned vineyards, perhaps? The service (including our poor waitress wandering from table to table with a slab of raw meat so illustrate each cut of steak)? The interior, which comes in somewhere between ostentatious and cool? Nah, forget all that. It's all about the steak. If anyone can find me a better steak in Manchester, I'll eat my hat.
The best steak in Manchester - Probably by peter rodgers
As a big fan of Steak I am constantly on the look-out for the perfect cut and a chef that treats a rib-eye with the respect it deserves. The Gaucho Grill comes about the closest in Manchester to fulfilling these exacting requirements. This publicly listed chain also has restaurants in London and Amsterdam and specialises in Argentinian reared Aberdeen Angus stock which is vacuum sealed on slaughter and aged for up to 30 days longer than beef traditionally reared and slaughtered in the UK. The result is a cut so tender and yet so full of taste that I defy you find a better steak in Manchester. The restaurant itself is a bit theatrical. The service is fine - neither too sloppy nor too over-attentive - and price reasonable for such a great meal. A great place to eat after a match at Old Trafford or before going out clubbing or even if you want to impress a date - so long as she's a meat-eater! And if you do happen to find a better cut of beef, something to beat The Gaucho Grill, then please tell the rest of us
