2/102/10 Terrible Service by Andy

The food at East Z East is great, but the service is awful. We turned up without a booking and were told that there would be a wait of ten minutes. This wasn't a problem so we went and had a drink in the bar (which resembles a cheap nightclub with bright neon everywhere). After 40 minutes we asked where our table was and were told that we'd only been waiting for ten minutes: the empty glasses on our table told a different tale and the young Maitre D basically implied we were lying and said that we could leave if we wished if we were unable to wait any longer. It was only when we complained to someone else (we suspect the owner) that a table miraculously appeared (of which there were a few spare) and the same young lady was grudgingly obliged to show us to it without a word. Once seated we had to ask for drinks, ask twice for glasses, ask to be served (after waiting 30 minutes for our order to be taken) and then ask three times for the bill (nearly an hour after finishing our meals). The ambiance of the restaurant is also rather strange. They have applied neon lighting everywhere, especially in the bar upstairs where it is really bright. It's kind of like a mix between a dodgy nightclub and a restaurant; they don't seem to know which they want to be. The food at East Z East was great. But the service was terrible (rude) and the ambiance of the restaurant is very strange. We won't be going back.

9/109/109/109/109/109/109/109/109/10 excellent by Anon

The food was excellent here, the only downside I found was the lighting. I actully like to look at what we were eating. We had a table at the bottam of the stairs and it was pretty dark, I had a bit of a problem reading the menu. Otherwise overall the food was well presented and served quite quickly which was excellant as we were hungry. The only other thing and that was not the restaurants faults it was so busy and it took them 30 minutes to get our table ready.... our booking was for 8.45 we actully got our table at 9.15pm. I suppose that is testimony that the place is good. No one wants to leave. My starters of chicken liver was the best I have ever tasted. We had taken my brother and his wife since they are from London. They were amazed with the quality and prices. I must say the service was very good. We had a nice young lady coming around asking if all was well.

5/105/105/105/105/10 Excellent food. by Frances Hockin

We visited the restaurant last Sunday and were given a very friendly welcome. The food was superb, the decor very tasteful and modern and the staff very friendly but not intrusive. The valet parking is an excellent idea. The only critism is that some of the tables are too close together but I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and thought the prices reasonable for such a good dining experience.
