OK by Len
Dissapointing but I had high expectations. Food nice but not enough of it with patchy service- no one to welcome us on entering.

We will be back by carol
Went here on a busy Saturday night and were wowed by the place. My mother and I were visiting Manchester as a treat week-end away. We had a warm welcome and the service was great despite them being busy. We did have to wait a while for our desserts but the Maitre D came over and personally apologised for her mistake (most would have made an excuse) and we received complimentary coffees. She even called us a taxi and recommended places for us to visit during our stay- fantastic service and the food was a delight- highly recommended. My only gripe was that the restaurant was a little chilly.

This is one of the best restaurants in Manchester. The staff are welcoming, efficient and knowledgeable. The food is fantastic with great flavours and excellent presentation. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel special, what a great evening!

10/10 for everything by bryan edwards
Heard there was a new head chef at obsidian, so we decided to give it a go, never been before so was a little aprehensive. the menu was laid out perfectly and obvious attention had been paid the seasonality of the chefs ingredients which is quite rare in manchester, the food was out of this world for flavour and presentation. My wife had Scallops with raisins and capers to start , then halibut with oxtail ravioi and lobster bisque sauce which was borderline genious and cooked to perfection, I had the quail with a squash risotto cake followed by venison with varhona chocolate... just divine, we both couldn't decide have for desert, we pointed in the direction of cheese first (the cheese menu is just as impresseive, choice of 10) then a pudding after, we selected the chocolate souffle of the menu and bygod was it amazing. Absolutley top notch Obsidian.

Hidden Treasure by David Potts
My wife and I had a meal here last Friday after a friend recommended it to us. Quite frankly without the word of mouth I would not have known to try out this hidden treasure. We had a drink at the bar before our meal, and I have to say it opened my eyes to the world of cocktails. The bar man asked me what I liked to drink, and when I told him tequila he proceeded in making me the most exquisite 'old fashioned', while my wife had a 'pornstar'? Fabulous! The service in the restaurant was just as good; the lady who served us obviously knew the menu, and following her advice we shared a starter of parma ham and Mozzerella that was lovely. Then without sounding over the top I had the best ribeye I have ever had. My wife had sea bass which was wonderful as well. To sum up the staff are friendly and knowledgable, the atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious, the cocktails are amazing and the food is top notch! A really fantastic evening that I shall be recommending.
