The New Emperor is a large, modern, Cantonese restaurant popular with the local Chinese community. It is now winning plaudits as one of the very best restaurants in Chinatown, as word spreads beyond the Chinese community that the New Emperor offers probably the most authentic and traditional Chinese food available in city centre Manchester. Try one of the duck dishes, and if you find better quality or value anywhere else in Chinatown, we'd like to know about it!

The New Emperor - The Real Deal by Paul Edwards (rated 9/10)
As a regular visitor to Manchester on business I tend to eat in Chinatown about once a week. I've tried pretty much every Chinese restaurant in Chinatown now as far as I can work out and reckon the three best are The New Emperor, Pacific and Yang Sing. Of the three I believe the New Emperor to be the most authentic - certainly if the clientele is to be believed, which is predominantly Chinese. It is said by locals to serve the very best duck in all Chinatown, whilst the Dim Sum are similarly legendary. It's also a little less expensive than its competitors. But if you are looking to impress a business associate I would head to the Yang Sing. If you want to impress a date take her to the Pacific and if you want to impress a mate take him to the New Emperor. Also a great place to go with bunch of mates after a match at Old Trafford or City of Manchester Stadium.
